OUTER MONGOLIA, Sept 2006

Nomadic wind Tour of Outer Mongolia.
Our dream is to use as many toys and varied forms of transport as possible to ride together on a nomadic trek through Outer Mongolia visiting beautiful sites and the nomadic people on the way.

We will cover a total over-land distance of 2000 km riding before the wind on all manner of toys!

WE WILL EXPLORE!:

• The Northern and Western side of the Kanghai Mountain Chain and fly the highest peak.
  
• Karakorum (former capital of Mongolia),
  
• Pass by to the Mongol Else Sand Dunes (great flying there)
  
• Ereen desert lake,
  
• Orkhon waterfalls,
  
• Tsenger Hot Springs,
  
• Tsetserleg village and its monastery,
  
• Tsagaan nuur lake,
  
• A volcano region
  
• Drive on until Altai where we will return to Ulaan Bataar and fly home.
  
• This trip includes 2 days of very intensive driving and will allow us to see and fly a large variety of landscapes.

GROUP WILL CONSIST OF:

• Expedition Leader and Paragliding Instructor
  
• 2 guides
  
• 2 cooks
  
• Group <20 clients, of which 14 pilots.

ACCOMMODATION:

• Camping
• One night in a hotel in Ulaanbaatar
• Two nights in ger camps

PRICE: TBA
10 days includes interpretor, food, accommodation and travel whilst in Mongolia. Includes camping equipment but not sleeping bags (get a good one as it can get cold at night!)

FLIGHTS:
OUTBOUND: Flying from Glasgow or London to Frankfurt
MIAT Mongolian airlines to Ulaan Bataar, Outer Mongolia.

NOT INCLUDED:
Camping material (sleeping bag).
Paragliders.

Yipee I cant wait!!!

We hope to do some cross country flights where the others travel beneath us on the other toys and with horses and jeeps! We will be camping out, cooking our food in the traditional style. Normally the food consists of roast vegetables and mutton and we stop at the local gers for local snacks. We will be carrying lots of supplies with us but you are advised to bring extra chocolate as their aren't many shops on route!

The conditions. Easy sites with vast landing areas. Soaring above smooth grassy slopes the children running underneath trying to jump up and grab your feet. Sometimes it gets a bit windy in which case its perfect for the kites and buggies as well as the blocarts! We sometimes have early morning starts if it looks like it might get too windy later. It does get thermic so we hope to be flying some cross country routes. You need to be a qualified pilot with some airtime but the terrain is easy, however we will be operating off the beaten track so some ability is necessary.
